With a length of 300 meters, the “Tschepparutsche” is also one of the longest Flying Fox courses in Austria. You can also find other forest rope parks on the Pyramidenkogel and in Pörtschach. Pure adrenaline! On hot summer days, the wild and romantic Tscheppaschlucht canyon is a pleasant way to cool off. The thundering Tschaukofall is one of the highlights of this natural spectacle. The Meerauge in the idyllic Bodental valley is a must-have postcard picture in addition to its exciting origin and emerald green color.
A number of museums in Rosental open up journeys of discovery into historical times. Exciting stories for young and old can be found in the Historama, Austria’s second-largest museum for technology and transportation. The Rosental retro steam train hisses and puffs along with historic train sets between Ferlach and Weizelsdorf in summer and fall. In the Celtic world Frög, you feel like you’ve been taken back to prehistoric times. The EXPI in Gotschuchen is a house full of experiments and interactive stages. The gunsmith’s museum in Ferlach not only tells stories about the unique, traditional gunsmith’s guild, which is known far beyond the borders, but also about the long history of hunting.
The largest animal park in Carinthia, the Rosegg animal park, is located just 5 km from Velden am Wörthersee and has been an attraction for visitors for more than 50 years. On a long walk (in an area suitable for baby strollers), you can admire and observe around 300 animals and approx. 35 species. The animal park’s petting zoo and children’s playground are an absolute experience for children of all ages.
